Step by Step
Choose a guided tour of the Clydeside Distillery to discover how whisky is made and sample three types of whisky made on the premises.
Opened in 2017, the distillery is characterised by its large windows overlooking the river, allowing you to see the large airtight steel stills. The activity lasts approximately one hour.
The distillery is located inside the Pump House, the building that used to control the access of ships to the port. The first part of the tour is devoted to the city's past and its feverish industrial activity. The tour then focuses on the production of whisky.
Although it is a Lowlands drink, it does not have the typical smooth and light taste, but is decidedly more spicy, with notes of ginger, orange peel and tropical fruits. The water used comes from Loch Katrine, a lake a few miles north of Glasgow.
