Step by Step
St. Patrick's Cathedral is a landmark for many Catholics in the city. The catacombs in its underground floors have become a must-see for many of them.
Admission to the cathedral is free, but access to the catacombs is exclusive to tour travellers. The 1.5 hour tour will start with a visit to the cathedral, pass through several walled cemeteries and end at the catacombs.
An expert guide will explain all the secrets of the cathedral walls. These same walls have served as a backdrop for films such as The Godfather and Mean Streets.
For over 200 years, this place of worship has witnessed the struggles of prominent New York City Catholics. Bishops and notable New Yorkers such as the Delmonico family rest in this ground.
Your guide will lead you through several walled cemeteries before descending one level below the basilica. There you will find three corridors full of crypts. At the beginning of the tour you will be given a candle so that you can read the names of those who are buried there.
Don't be confused with St. Patrick's Cathedral on 5th Avenue! This tour starts at 266 Mulberry Street (corner of Mulberry St. and Jersey St.). You will need to be there 15 minutes before the tour starts and you will need to check in.
Choose the day and time that best suits your trip and get ready to see this iconic landmark in New York's history.
