Palma de Mallorca Guided Tour

This walking tour focuses on the old town of Palma de Mallorca. An expert guide will explain the history of the city and its most emblematic monuments and buildings. As for the duration, you can choose between two options: a 45-minute tour (without entrance to the Cathedral) or a 90-minute experience that includes access to the island's most important temple.

The route usually starts at an easily accessible location such as the Parc de la Mar, a green area within walking distance of the Cathedral and sheltered by the remains of the medieval walls. It is famous for its saltwater lake that symbolises Palma de Mallorca's link with the sea.

From here you can admire the silhouette of the Cathedral, a Gothic jewel adorned with a large rose window. It was built after the conquest of the island by the Crown of Aragon in the 13th century. King James I decided to build a great temple after being saved from a shipwreck.

A few metres from this great Christian temple is the Palau Reial de l'Almudaina. It is an old Muslim Almoravid fortress converted into a Christian palace. Also Gothic in style, it has a square floor plan and is divided into several rooms. One of the most important is the Hall of the Kings, which houses the portraits of the Mallorcan monarchs and a reconstruction of the helmet of Jaume I with its typical dragon shape.

Behind the palace is the S'Hort del Rei, a beautiful garden with pergolas and fountains. In the past, this small plot of land was home to orange and lemon trees, aromatic herbs and vegetables. The route generally ends at the Plaza de Cort, home to the town hall and a majestic century-old olive tree. Please note that the order may vary.
