With your golden ticket, you not only gain access to the interior of this temple of books, but you can also choose a book from the bookshop's own collection, published by Ediciones Livraria Lello. You will find carefully selected and beautifully edited titles, including works by José Saramago, Nabokov, Kafka, and many others.
One of the main attractions is its impressive spiral staircase, which seems to float in the centre of the building, as well as its stained-glass ceiling with Latin inscriptions. The facilities also include contemporary art spaces and exhibitions that connect literature with other forms of cultural expression.
The José Saramago Room, created in collaboration with the Foundation that bears his name, displays personal objects, first editions and manuscripts by the Portuguese Nobel Prize winner. It is an intimate corner to learn more about his life and legacy.
The visit is not only a visual and cultural experience, but also a way to support the love of reading, as your ticket becomes part of the value of a book that you can take away as a souvenir of this unique space.
