The beer culture of the Netherlands is well known and there are many brands of beer created in Holland, but Heineken beer is the one we've all heard of and tasted on more than one occasion. If you are visiting Amsterdam, you can (and should) take the opportunity to visit the Heineken brewery at its famous Heineken Experience. I'll tell you how.

Amsterdam Offer: Canal Cruise and Heineken Experience Tickets
Amsterdam's two must-see experiences at the best price
Book your Heineken Experience together with a canal cruise to get the best price on the city's most popular attractions.
With this pack you can take a guided tour of the old Heineken brewery, where they will explain the process of brewing beer, one of the most prized goods in Holland. Although the explanations at the brewery are always in English, you can download an APP to follow all the instructions and understand what they are explaining.
In addition to the visit to the Heineken Experience, you can relax on one of the typical cruises that ply the city's canals. The boats leave every half hour, which gives you more flexibility when choosing your timetable.
Why I like this option: This is the most complete and convenient option if you are thinking of enjoying both experiences. Buying them together will save you time at the ticket office and money, as it is cheaper than buying them separately.
Access the Heineken Experience with the Amsterdam Pass
Another way to experience the Heineken Experience (the best if you're spending a few days in the Dutch capital) is to buy the Amsterdam Pass. It is the only tourist pass in the city that includes this visit among its attractions and also adds the possibility of going on its various canal cruises.
This pass will give you access to more than 30 museums and attractions in the capital, from cultural to leisure attractions. From the must-see Rijksmuseum or the Tassenmuseum Amsterdam, a magnificent 17th-century canal house that forms part of the Amsterdam Canal Ring Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to the fun attraction of the Amsterdam Dungeon, the interesting Museum of the Canals or the famous A'dam Lookout.
All this without queuing and saving up to 50% on your individual tickets, as well as the possibility of unlimited travel around the city on board one of its tourist buses or one of the pleasant cruises that travel along the capital's famous canals. You can personalise this card and choose to use it for 1, 2, 3 or 5 full days. I leave you here a link to my practical guide on Amsterdam Tourist Cards so you can read more.
What is the Heineken Experience?
This experience is located inside the original Heineken family brewery built in the centre of Amsterdam in 1867 to produce all the brand's beverages until, given the great demand for beer in the 1980s, the company had to move to a larger plant on the outskirts. This is how, in 2001, the Heineken Museum was created to make the most of this building with so much history behind it.
In its interactive tour and thanks to an audio guide available in several languages, including Spanish, you will learn about the origin and evolution of this renowned brand, its natural ingredients and secrets and the real processes for making Heineken beer, while you walk among the huge copper tanks that were originally used in its production and you can even try to make your own beer for a day!
There is also an APP with a guide to the Heineken Experience, which you can download to get the most out of your tour, which lasts an hour and a half. Millions of visitors experience the Heineken Experience every year, so if you don't want to miss out, I recommend getting your skip-the-line ticket in advance.

Other places of interest near the Heineken Experience
The Heineken Museum is ideally located close to several other attractions that are also worth a visit during your trip to Amsterdam. Two of the city's must-see museums are close by, including its main art gallery with over 8000 works of art, the Rijksmuseum, 492 metres away, and the city's second most visited museum, the wonderful Van Gogh Museum, which exhibits over 200 original works by the Dutch painter.
Nearby, about 600 metres away, you can visit the amazing house of Amsterdam's ruling Van Loon family at their Valoon Museum on Keizersgracht. About 960 metres away you should visit the Flower Market, where the locals of the city usually buy their seeds, gardening supplies, plants and flowers because it is a veritable orchard with hundreds of species and tulips of all colours, as the emblematic flower that it is in the Netherlands.
I also recommend that you take advantage of your day at the Heineken Experience to eat a pannenkoeken, a typical Dutch-style pancake, with sweet and savoury fillings, which is really typical in this city. Nearby you'll find one of the best places to try them, at De Carrousel Pannenkoeken, at H.M. van Randwijkplantsoen 1, a curious restaurant built on top of an old carousel.
