Step by Step
This excursion to Jerash, Ajloun Castle and Umm Qais from Amman will allow you to make the most of one of the days of your trip. In just one day, you can travel back in time and discover these three landmarks of northern Jordan.
This is a private tour in which only your group will participate. It is a perfect option if you are travelling with friends or family, as you will have total personalisation and exclusivity. In addition, an expert local guide can accompany you to make the most of the experience.
The tour includes hotel pick-up and drop-off, as well as transport to and from Amman and any transfers between tourist attractions. Once underway, enjoy the exotic scenery on your way to Jerash.
Jerash, a thriving Greek and Roman city founded by Alexander the Great under the name of Gerasa, today has one of the best preserved classical sites in the world. Inside you can see the remains of streets, squares and baths worn down by the passage of time. You will also find emblematic monuments such as Hadrian's Arch, the hippodrome, the Temple of Artemis and the Oval Colonnade.
Nearby, at Ajloun Castle, you will discover a 12th century fortress perched on a hill. It is a fine example of medieval Arab-Islamic military architecture. Inside you can visit a small museum where you can learn more about the history of the place.
Further north, you'll come to Umm Qais, where you'll find the remains of another Roman city known as Gandara. This is the perfect time to enjoy the views of the Golan Heights, Lake Tiberias and the Jordan Valley from the hilltop. There you will also be able to see Greco-Roman remains and visit the mausoleum, the basilica terrace and the theatres.
Once you have finished all the visits, the shuttle will drop you back at the same pick-up point. If you prefer, it is possible to hire only the transport and do the different visits on your own without a guide.
