Step by Step
On this tour you will have the opportunity, for about 4 hours, to visit one of the most historically rich areas of Kyoto: the Higashiyama district. Throughout the activity, you will be accompanied by an expert guide, from whom you will learn many interesting facts about the culture, history and architecture of the places you will pass through.
You will start by visiting Fushimi Inari Shrine, an important Shinto shrine known for its thousands of bright red torii (sacred gates) that line paths across the shrine hill. It is one of the most photographed and visited sites in all of Japan, where you can walk along the paths and enjoy the breathtaking views of the city from the top.
Once you have seen the shrine, you will take a short train ride (included in the cost of the tour), which will take you to the Gion district, known as much for its geisha houses as for the multitude of temples and shrines that line its streets. Strolling through this traditional Japanese neighbourhood you will see kabuki theatres and tea houses, where the famous tea ceremonies are held.
Gion is a popular place to enjoy traditional Japanese culture and is especially known for its beauty during the cherry blossom season and during the annual Gion Matsuri festival in July, a traditional festival celebrated in Japan for centuries to ward off evil spirits.
After the tour, you will return to the original starting point, as it is a round trip.
