How much does it cost to buy a combined ticket for the Colosseum and the Vatican?
There is a combined ticket for around €90 which allows you to visit both attractions in one day, accompanied by an expert guide and with priority access, allowing you to skip the queues.
If you want to know what this ticket includes for the Vatican and the Colosseum, you can read my article in which I tell you all the details to take advantage of this combo.
How much does a ticket to the Roman Forum cost?
Admission to the Roman Forum is included in the price of Colosseum tickets and most guided tours of the Colosseum, so you won't have to pay extra to visit the Colosseum.
If you want to visit the Colosseum and you haven't taken the precaution of buying your tickets online in advance, you can always go to the ticket office (the Roman Forum ticket office is usually less crowded than the Colosseum) and buy your tickets there. As they are combined tickets for the whole archaeological area, they will be valid for the Colosseum and you will save time by not having to queue for longer periods of time.
How much does a ticket to the Palatine Hill cost?
Access to the Palatine Hill is included in most Hellotickets guided tours to the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, so if you buy a full guided tour, you will not have to pay extra to visit it.
However, if you have simply bought a single ticket for the Colosseum, it will not be valid for the Palatine Museum. In that case, consider buying a Full Pass if you want to have access to the whole area.
How much does the Circus Massimo ticket cost?
Circus Massimo is free of charge. Circo Massimo is in the open air, it is not perimetered and you can access it freely at any time you want, whenever you want and without an entrance ticket. If you choose the guided tour, as well as avoiding the queues, you will be able to understand the history behind this hippodrome thanks to the commentary of an expert guide.
How much does it cost to visit the Colosseum with the Roma Pass?
The price of the Roma Pass depends on the number of days you buy it for. For example, the 72-hour pass costs €52 and gives you free access to the Colosseum and Roman Forum.
To find out whether or not it's worth buying this tourist card, it's best to calculate the cost of admission to each museum or attraction you want to visit. Please note that the Roma Pass will usually give you access to entrance fees but not guided tours of most of Rome's landmarks.
Can I get into the Colosseum for free?
Yes, on the first Sunday of every month the Colosseum opens its doors for free. As you can imagine, Italians and foreigners crowd the entrances to get their free admission, so make the most of it only if you don't mind squeezing through the crowds.
As a word of advice, I recommend you get up early (and very early) to avoid -as far as possible- the queues that can form and make sure you get a place in the most popular amphitheatre in the world. This also applies to the visit to the Roman Forum.
Are there any discount coupons or tickets on offer for the Colosseum?
No, there are usually no discount coupons or special offers for the Colosseum. Keep in mind that it is one of the most in-demand attractions in the world, and the Colosseum is usually sold out of guided tours on a daily basis. With this scenario, as you can imagine, it is impossible to find last-minute offers, discounts or cheap tickets.
However, there are groups (such as specialised teachers or art students) who are entitled to buy tickets at a lower rate than the general public. You can read about this in my article on cheap or discounted tickets for the Coliseum.
Do children have to pay admission to the Colosseum?
Yes, children will need a ticket to enter the Colosseum or for a guided tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum. However, children under the age of 18 are entitled to a reduced price when purchasing a ticket. You can check here for more details about offers or how to get cheap or discounted tickets for the Colosseum.
In Hellotickets, for example, you can select during the purchase process how many adult and child tickets you need. Please note that minors must be accompanied by an adult and must prove their age at the entrance with an identity document.
