Although it is probably one of the most photographed buildings in the country and the world, this city is also known for being home to some of the greatest examples of Romanesque art.
The cathedral, which you can walk around during the tour, is one such example. It is located next to the tower in the Plaza de los Milagros and its main construction material is stone. It is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and is the burial place of illustrious figures such as Henry VII, emperor of the Holy Roman Empire.
In case you want to buy a ticket to access the Leaning Tower, you may be interested to know that it measures 60 metres and has 294 steps. It is Gothic and Romanesque in style and its inclination is due to the lack of stability of the marshy ground.
