This museum is the largest of its kind in Italy and one of the most important in Europe and the world. Founded in 1953, it houses the largest collection of scientific and technological objects and artefacts in Italy, including a rich display of models of machines designed by Leonardo da Vinci, based on his original drawings.

The museum, which occupies the rooms of the former Monastery of San Vittore al Corpo, is located near the site of a small vineyard owned by Leonardo. Among the museum's exhibits are interactive science exhibits, chemistry labs, rooms offering games and experiments on energy, light, electricity, robotics, genetics and more.

The figure of Da Vinci is investigated in its historical context, relating his work as an engineer and humanist with the history of science, art, technology and Renaissance thought.

At present, the facilities occupy 50,000 square metres: more than half of this space is dedicated to the scientific and technological discoveries of the last centuries, with 13 interactive laboratories and 15 thematic exhibitions.
