Step by Step
Thanks to this reservation, you will have the opportunity to go up to the rooftop of the Duomo of Milan. With your tickets you have the option of either taking the lift or the 251 steps up to the panoramic terrace of this great cathedral. On this journey into the Milanese sky you will be able to see many monuments of the second most important city in Italy.
The cathedral, which took almost six centuries to complete, is the largest in Italy and the third largest in the world. The nave is about 45 metres high, the highest of any Gothic vault in an entire church, and the roof is open to tourists, allowing you to get a close-up view of some spectacular sculptures that would otherwise go unnoticed.
On the rooftop you will see a multitude of gargoyles, as well as the spires that characterise this cathedral, but also other famous statues. For example, the Madonnina, a golden statue of more than 4 metres that marks the highest point of the building.
From the terrace, which occupies practically the entire surface of the roof, you will be able to admire other monuments located in this great city, also known as the city of fashion, among them:
- Piazza del Duomo: this is the main square in Milan and is named after the Milan Cathedral. It marks the centre of the city, both geographically and in terms of its importance from an artistic, cultural and social point of view. And it is by far the main tourist attraction.
- Galleria Vittorio Emmanuelle II: it is the oldest active shopping arcade in Italy and one of Milan's main monuments. It is a four-storey double arcade in the centre of the city. You will see numerous boutiques inside.
As you will have to pass through the interior of the cathedral to go to the roof, it is compulsory for travellers to wear appropriate clothing. This means that men and women are not allowed to wear bare shoulders or legs, so no shorts or mini-skirts are allowed.
