Step by Step

Join this tour to some of the main tourist destinations of Crete: the island of Spinalonga and the town of Agios Nikolaos. The activity will last about 9 hours, during which you will be accompanied by an expert guide. Together with the guide, you will learn about the historical and cultural past of both destinations.

Spinalonga is a small island located on the north-eastern coast of the island of Crete, Greece. It was inhabited by the Venetians from the 15th to the 17th century, who built a fortress on the island to protect themselves from Turkish attacks. After the Turkish conquest of Crete in the 17th century, the fortress was used as a prison, and later, in the 20th century, as a leper colony.

During the visit you can explore the ruins of the fortress and the leper col ony. Spinalonga also has a small museum that tells the story of the leprosarium and the life of its residents. Over the years, the island has been used as a setting for several films and novels and is considered one of the most beautiful and emotional places in the region.

In Agios Nikolaos you will have free time to explore and sightsee on your own. This picturesque resort town is known for Lake Voulismeni, a saltwater lake located in the centre of the town. This lake is the heart of Agios Nikolaos and is a popular place to take a stroll and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. The town also has a wide variety of shops, bars and restaurants, so you won't be short of options to enjoy your free time there.

Finally, you will visit Elounda, a coastal town located on the northeast coast of Crete, known for its ultra-luxury hotels and fabulous beaches, such as Elounda Beach and Plaka Beach. The town is a major tourist destination and is famous for its beautiful scenery and clean beaches.

An ideal excursion to experience the beauty of the different destinations Crete has to offer, where you can relax and enjoy yourself in comfort, as you don't have to worry about logistics and transfers, which are included in the activity.
