Step by Step
A bike tour is the perfect way to visit Cologne. Thanks to this means of transport, you can get around quickly and reach the most beautiful spots in the city, such as the Cathedral, the riverside promenade and the Hohenzollern Bridge. The tour is led by an expert guide who will tell you about the history of Cologne, from its Roman origins to the present day. The activity lasts approximately 3 hours and includes the hire of a helmet and a poncho (if rain is expected).
The meeting point is centrally located and easily accessible, such as the Central Station or the nearby Eigelstein Torburg, a medieval gate from the early 13th century. The following list lists the highlights of the route:
- Hohenzollern Bridge - The most iconic bridge in the city. It is an infrastructure created for trains and is characterised by its three large iron arches. It was inaugurated in 1922 by Emperor Wilhelm II.
- Freitreppe Kölner Rheinboulevard - The river promenade on the Rhine. It is characterised by a grand staircase overlooking the river.
- Cathedral - Germany's most visited monument and burial place of the Magi. The church had a rather uneven construction; work began in the 13th century, but was not completed until 1880.
- Fort X - A former Prussian fortress built in the first half of the 19th century. Today, the former military fortification houses a beautiful rose garden.
The bike tour also touches on the Rheinauhafen, Cologne's most dynamic district. Here you will find numerous bars, restaurants and galleries, as well as contemporary-style residential and office buildings. The most famous of these are undoubtedly the Kranhäuser, with its characteristic crane shape.
