Step by Step

Explore the more mysterious and terrifying side of Paris by joining this two-hour night-time ghost tour, in small groups of 20 people maximum.

A professional guide will tell you about the most popular myths and legends of the French capital, a historic place where countless massacres, executions and armed struggles for power have taken place.

You will have the opportunity to discover on foot places that hold great stories, many of them little known to tourists:

  • La Conciergerie: also known as the Palais de la Cité. This historic building served as a prison during the French Revolution and was where Queen Marie-Antoinette spent her last days before having her head cut off in the Place de la Concorde.
  • Place du Vert-Galant: although it is now a beautiful green and leafy space, declared an ecological zone, in 1314 it was the scene where Jacques de Molay, the last Grand Master of the Order of the Temple, was burned alive.
  • Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois Church: this enigmatic Gothic church is an enclave in the conflict that triggered the St Bartholomew's Day Massacre, in which thousands of French Protestants died.
  • Ile de la Cité: this area is considered the first quarter of Paris, where the Parisii tribes settled and later founded the city. It is bordered by La Conciergerie and the Palais de Justice.
  • Place de l'Hôtel-de-Ville: in the 14th century, this square was the epicentre of public executions, which mainly sentenced people accused of heresy.

Visiting these monuments will allow you to explore the more controversial and disturbing side of the 'City of Light', which has a glorious and tragic past that will never cease to amaze you.

I think a little more time would be a good idea. I found the whole thing too short, you lose depth! Great guide and organisation!
