- Aswan High Dam - Built in the 1960s to cope with drought, flooding of the Nile and to produce electricity, it is a grandiose architectural work of great interest to the country. The artificial basin formed is known as Lake Nasser.
- Unfinished Obelisk - Archaeologists believe it was intended for the people of Karnak. Had it been completed, it would have exceeded 40 metres in height. It is believed to have been built during the reign of Hatshepsut, one of the few female pharaohs in history.
- Philae Temple - One of the best preserved temples in the country. It was dedicated to the cult of Isis and some buildings were added during the Hellenistic period. It was dismantled and rebuilt during the construction of the great dam.
